Who and What?

Darker Days is a collective of folkloric, magical, fortean folk exploring Hastings and the world beyond with events, happenings, writing and more.

Melanie Atkinson is a horror author living in Hastings. She has loved all things spooky ever since she picked up her first Goosebumps book as a child. She has written novels including The Last Night In Amsterdam and short story collections including The Woods Are Full of Eels and Our Lives Are Full Of Spectres. Always excited to talk all things horror she has given workshops at The UK Ghost Story Festival, Summer Scares and Hastings Book Festival.

Molly Morrison is lead investigator for the Untruth Seekers, who explore the gap between folklore and fact. She is the author of Sussex Roots, Spirits of Hastings and Treasure of the Cinque Ports, and is passionate about preserving and sharing the history of Sussex through its folklore and ghost stories.

Drawn to the gothic, the macabre, the curious and the fantastical, Molly loves finding the magical in the mundane.

Paul Watson—artist and photographer—was born in England and has lived in various parts of the country, most recently settling in Hastings.

He is a multidisciplinary artist primarily working in drawing, photography, and printmaking.

Scott Wood is the co-founder of the London Fortean Society, ex-disorganiser of the South East London Folklore Society (2003 – 2011) and on the Hastings Book Festival committee. The Feral Writers Crawl was his idea.

Scott is the author of London Urban Legends: The Corpse on the Tube, wrote mainly strange things for Londonist, Transpontine, Little Atoms, One Eye Grey and more.
